this world!
The
Amazing
Hubble!

Want to read about something that is out of this world? Scientists gather amazing pictures from billions of light-years away to show you here on the EARTH! They use the Hubble Space Telescope. It  is fascinating!!!. The "Hubble" views "creatures" from outer space. The Hubble discovers new galaxies!  Can the "Hubble" view "aliens" and UFO's? Curious to know more about this amazing telescope?  Get started searching this webquest.

The Tasks:

This webquest is designed for grades 6-8. The student will evaluate, synthesize, and deduce information relating to the Hubble Space Telescope.

The Resources:

Following are five resources that are available for you to accomplish your task.

1. This is a terrific site that describes and visually displays the features, light, positioning, instruments, power, and communication of the Hubble Space Telescope. This site will enable you to explore the interior of the HUBBLE.
This is a terrific educational site.

2. This is an interesting interactive site that is educational and allows students to learn the history of the telescope. You can become an astronaut and learn valuable information about space at the same time. This is a great site for individual learning to take place.

3.  This is a great site about the origin, destiny, fate, and shape of the universe.  The Hubble Space Telescope is a major instrument used to utilize this data about outer space. The universe is waiting to be explored.

4.  This site contains a great video about the Hubble Telescope. There is a great video to view that contains fabulous photos of outer space and the Hubble Space Telescope.  An interesting site to retain student's attention.

5.   This is a wonderful sight that explains in detail the wide field planetary camera, the faint object camera, the faint object spectrograph, and the Goddard high resolution spectrograph.  The site explains the instruments used in the Hubble Space Telescope.

The Process:

1. You need to explore the interior of the HUBBLE! Explore the interior and list the features, light, positioning, instruments, power, and communication specifications of the Hubble.

2. You now need to explore the history of the telescope. View all animations and answer all questions.

3.  Read about the origin, destiny, fate, and shape of the universe. Write a two page paper after reading the origin and destiny of the universe. The universe is waiting to be explored.

4.  Write a one page reflection paper for this assignment. Scroll down to Astronomy/Space Science, click on Hubble: Secrets from space, view the video after clicking on a great video to view.

5.  List the instruments used in the Hubble Telescope, including the wide planetary camera, the faint object camera, the faint object spectrograph, and the Goddary high resolution spectrograph.  Draw images of these instruments and label them.

6.  Have fun with this game and test your knowledge.

Learning Advice:

To properly organize this material you might keep a notebook containing all information that you accumulated about the Hubble Space Telescope.  This will help you to retain what you have learned and to add more to your previous knowledge about telescopes.

Conclusion:

After completing this webquest you will have increased your knowledge about the Hubble Space Telescope.  Why not continue studying about the universe? You might come across an alien!
