Do You Know Your Place?

Do you know your place...values that is!  This WebQuest will help you to identify whole numbers in an exciting ways.  You will enjoy learning how to recognize the difference between ones, tens, and hundreds place while gaining a better concept of numbers through exciting games and challenging  practice drills.

1. The AAA Math site will allow you to practice working with place values by completing timed practice drills.  Various  levels that are age appropriate for this simple drill are available.  Instantly, see how much you know by checking and correcting your work.

2.  The Five Geokid Puzzle Page will allow you to work with place values using words according to the grade level specified by the user.  You can take a quiz to see how much you know and enjoy finding your results instantly.

3. Rick's Math Web provides number tips and tricks to help determine place values.  Learn how to "group" numbers following the step-by-step instructions while enjoying soft music.

4. The Cincinnati City School's site will allow you to have more practice using place values.  The chart will help you to better understand the order of numbers on a place value chart.  This work page gives you more practice with numbers and help to identify place values with words.

5. Edbydesign is designed for teachers who want to implement a fun lesson on Tens and Ones for students in grades K-3.  Finish off your lessons with practice drills designed to reinforce the lesson taught prior to this activity.

Learning Advice:

You should create a place value chart to help keep the order of place values in its correct sequence.  You will need graphing paper to label ones, tens, hundreds, etc.. As you go through this activity, write down any questions you have concerning place values. I have created a powerpoint presentation for you.

Conclusion:

After completing these exercises, you will be able to recognize the order of numbers, identify three-digit whole numbers, and learn place values by using words.
